I think he does a particularly nice job with Crissy, Ethan’s sister. ![]() The story takes place in the south, so there are a lot of accents to deal with and I think for the most part they are handled well. I think he does a great job overall with the story. The audiobook is narrative by Charlie David, one of my favorite narrators. But still, this remains one of my favorite books by this author and one I always recommend. ![]() Maybe it was the audio format, or maybe I had built it up too much in my memory. I will say, I didn’t love this one quite as much the second time around and I am not sure why. I also enjoy the way this story takes a look at shifters from a different angle and shows how the vampires are actually much better at interacting with humans than the more anti-social shifters. And of course the gruff, aggressive vampire with the sweet, young virgin is a theme that never gets old for me. ![]() I love how he knows Miguel is meant for him and willing to do whatever it takes, even uprooting his life, to be with him. He is smaller and weaker than his mate, but Ethan is feisty. Ethan stars out this book sickly and an outcast, and I love how he comes into his own with Miguel. I’ll refer you to my original review for a more detailed summary of the story and my feelings about it, but I will say that I love the vampire/shifter pairing and the relationship dynamic between Ethan and Miguel. We can pretend, but we're not REALLY post-pandemic, especially in the theater community. However, it has also been the most difficult moment of my career - because of the state of the world, and the state of theater IN that world. We wanted to bring a little joy to a post-pandemic world…and by all accounts we DID. Many took to social media to say this was the best show they’d seen all year, or that it had become their new favorite musical. One woman wrote to say she’d been 23 times - and dozens more came back with friends and family in tow to see the show another time. ![]() I have seen my characters in 3D, & I have watched people laugh and cry and come back to the theater over and over because the message spoke to them so clearly.
